The Little Things

Happy Friday! This week I chose the closest color I had to green for St. Patrick’s Day: “Rise and Shine” by Sinful Colors (it’s $2 at many local grocery stores and it holds up SO well!). I threw a little “You Pink Too Much” by OPI on top, but made sure to put it on sparingly, trying to avoid the bigger chunks of glitter:

Sinful Colors "Rise and Shine" nail polish

I really love the color! It’s creamy and smooth, and you can’t beat the price. The Sinful Colors I have don’t seem to chip. I’ve had this polish on since Sunday and there aren’t any chips- amazing!

Throwback Post: Respecting the No! (this is hugely hugely important, and something that most people struggle with at some point)

Here are some random facts for the week:

1. I had to throw away my Valentine’s Day Flowers last weekend (yes- they lasted for SO long), and was feeling a bit sad with the color of flowers in my place. When I saw these tulips on sale at the grocery store, I scooped them up. I’m having a love affair with tulips this year…

2. Soccer brother is officially a professional soccer player now! He officially signed his contract this week (he moved overseas just over two weeks ago), and I’m SO so excited for him! It’s been such a joy in life to watch him go from “micro soccer” as a 3 and 4 year old all the way through playing in Nationals in college, and now being a pro! He’s worked so hard, and this is proof that you can make your dreams come true (even when those dreams start before kindergarten :D).

3. I had a really nasty nightmare earlier this week- one of those nightmares that feels real and is hard to shake off. 50 minutes later when I went to leave for work, I got really stressed to leave the house. SO ridiculous since it was rooted in something that wasn’t even real. I was rewarded with an amazing sunrise to enjoy on my way to work, which helped immensely!

4. Have you watched ABC’s “Repeat After Me” yet? It just started a few weeks ago, and I’m absolutely loving it! If you haven’t seen it yet, head to ABC’s website to check it out 🙂

5. I think my ultimate comfort food is oatmeal. I LOVE oatmeal and eat it pretty often. When I’m nervous, not feeling well, or busy, it’s a go to food for me. I even bring a bag of it when I travel… “just in case” (after I got food poisoning in Spain in 2012 and that’s all that sounded good, I’ve brought it with me most places). To me, it works for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, or dessert. YUM!

Now it’s your turn to share! What’s one of your “go to” comfort foods? Do you ever have nightmares that are tough to shake off?

Congrats to your brother! That’s really amazing! Any plans to visit him in Europe soon??

I love tulips in spring, especially the red ones. Almost as much as I love sunflowers in the fall!

Spaghetti and meatballs is my comfort food. I always want it!

I’m really hoping to visit him at some point, although I can’t plan for that right quite yet. I love sunflowers as well!!

  2. You can plant those tulips in your garden and they will bloom each spring for years! My friend gave me a pot of red tulips years ago and they’ve bloomed in my garden each spring since!

How fun!! If I had any bit of soil of my own, I would definitely plant them!

  3. I love that your ultimate comfort food is healthy.
    I’m embarrassed to list mine.
A huge bowl of warm mac and cheese would be number one followed by any and all desserts!

Does it help to know that sometimes I put candy or marshmallows on top of my oatmeal to make it a dessert. hahaha. Mac and Cheese sounds fantastic!

  4. That is awesome about your brother. Huge congratulations to him!!! I’ve never heard of anyone eating oatmeal for comfort food – now I know someone. ☺ I like the story behind it. My comfort food would have to be popcorn or froyo, depending on whether I’m in a sweet/salty, smooth, crunchy mood.

I have nightmares and really vivid dreams once every two or three months. They are so real that when I wake up, I have to check to make sure everything is ok. They stick with me for a few days in the back of my mind. Crazy!

Oatmeal is a strange comfort food. It’s just one of the only foods I can stomach no matter what, so I guess that’s why I choose it 🙂 Froyo is fantastic! I just had some this weekend- I mixed Key Lime and Vanilla Cake together, and it was so delicious!
