The Little Things
November 7, 2014

Happy Friday! I’m still just under one week out from race day, and I’m finding myself deeply craving another weekend like last one. It was really fantastic. But, I also strive to live in the moment and enjoy the little things along the way too! This week, to add a little fun and celebration to my nails, I chose Essie’s “Jamaica Me Crazy” with a coat of “sparkle on top” on top!

Essie Jamaican Me Crazy Nail Polish

I love it! As much as I’m really seasonal with my nailpolish colors, this is something that I think fits all year. With the dark pink and the yellow/orange color from the glitter, it especially fits into the color scheme of fall though, right? I’m such a fan!

Now for some random Friday Facts:

1. On Wednesday I went to our office refrigerator to get out my lunch to eat, and it wasn’t there. I checked in my office to see if I had accidently put it in there in my tired state, and it wasn’t there. Then it slowly dawned on me that I hadn’t grabbed it from the kitchen counter that morning. I bought a salad for lunch (I keep cheese sticks in the refrigerator, and I try to keep fruit on my desk throughout each week), and came home 12 hours later to find my lunch still sitting on the counter. I felt sad throwing out that Chobani!

2. Yesterday I finally caved and put my trainer tire back on my bike. That means that I’m stuck biking indoors again until spring (this past year I put my road tire back on in the middle of May). I’m trying not to feel too sad about giving up all the fantastic hours I’ve had outside this year, and instead trying to focus on all the hours of TV and movies I now get to watch while biking (multi-tasking for the win!). Either way, I hope to maintain my fitness level on the bike, and keep a good base for next year!

3. I downloaded the Timehop app a little over a month ago, and I’m enjoying it. However, I very rarely find things I don’t remember happening (or tweeting, etc…). This app is just serving to confirm what a weird and intense memory I actually have.

4. I still haven’t closed my windows completely yet, and it’s solidly into November now. I just can’t give up the fresh air! I really should do an entire post on all the things behind this choice though.

5. I’m still obsessed with last weekend, and living on my post race high after my totally unexpected PR! Really, though, I’m just so full of gratitude.

Now it’s your turn to share! What’s one random fact from your week? Do you use the Timehop app?

  1. What is the Timehop app? I am obviously behind the times, as I always seem to be when it comes to technology. I am still trying to figure out how to use Twitter. Haha. Random fact from the week: My husband and I watched the movie Chef and it almost inspired me to buy a food truck. 🙂

I just heard of Chef earlier today. Is it on netflix? With the Timehop app, you can connect various social media accounts (facebook, instagram, twitter, etc…) as well as your phone pictures, and it compiles a list of pictures and posts you had from that day over all the years (I think mine has gone back as far as 8 years). It’s sort of a fun way to be nostolgic (or…. you know… to see things you wish you’d forget!)

I also just downloaded Timehop and agree with you – I remember everything anyway so it’s not that fun for me. My brother finds a bunch of frat night gems on his Timehop which is fun for him since he doesn’t remember those nights too well 🙂

I love that nail polish color too! It is perfect for year round.

I love a good balance of “year round” colors and seasonal colors. I really enjoy the anticipation and excitement of finally getting something that’s seasonal- nail polish included! I found a picture I didn’t remember on my Timehop today!

I just found your blog through the Peony Project, and I am so glad I Did! I also have POTS–found out when I was having liver issues as a secondary problem from neck issues. Basically, I’ve had my share of medical problems, including being diagnosed with POTS, but I don’t let it define me, either! So happy to have “met” you!

    • littlethingscaroline@gmail.com says:

Hi Gennie! I’m so glad you found my blog and that you said hello! I love meeting people who also have POTS, especially because I don’t have friends who have it!

  4. Ha, I’m glad I’m not the only one who forgets their lunch on the counter! I have done this one too many times.

It’s so easy to do, isn’t it? It’s annoying to me when I waste food like that, but hey- we aren’t perfect people, and things happen!
