Happy Thursday!! I’m sitting here enjoying a bowl of chocolate oatmeal with peppermint marshmallows on top as I type this (nothing like having “dessert” to start the day!). Here’s what I’m thankful for right now:
I’m thankful for a nice weekend with my parents. My parents were driving through on a trip, and ended up stopping for two nights to see me. It was fun to spend a little time with them.
I’m thankful for sunshine. It’s been pretty chilly this week (many days the “feels like” temp has been close to -25 in the mornings), but it’s been wonderfully sunny, and I’m loving it! To have sun hitting my eyes in the middle of winter is just fantastic, and I’ve been going outside for walks (just layer up and you’re fine in cold temperatures!) just to get out more in the sunshine.
I’m thankful for space in my life to read. Every evening this week I’ve made time to lay on my living room floor (I’m not sure why, but I find it really relaxing to lay on the floor) and read for at least 45 minutes. I’ve really loved ending my days like that, and it’s felt really calming and relaxing. I’m thankful for the time to do that.
I’m thankful for candles. I’ve had candles lit as I’ve been reading, and that just adds to the cozy ambiance. This week I finally put away my Christmas scented candles, and have moved into cinnamon and other winter scents. It’s so cozy to have them burning, especially on cold days.
I’m thankful for safety while driving on bad roads. We had a snow and ice storm at the start of the week, and unfortunately the snow and ice that melts during the day keeps refreezing, and things around my place (and work) have turned into sheets of ice. I’ve slid around a bit while driving (I’m so thankful for all wheel drive!), and I’m thankful that I, along with other drivers around me, have stayed safe.
Now it’s your turn to share! What are you feeling thankful for today? What’s one thing that helps you feel warm and cozy in the winter?
I also love to read on the floor… ever since I have been a kid it’s been my favorite way to read. All I need is a pillow for my elbows. What are you reading currently?
Today I’m most grateful for the smell of my coffee brewing while I get ready for work. It’s such a calming scent to me. I’m also really grateful that I get to wish my Grandpa a happy 85th birthday today!
Last night I finished a book called “A Life Without Limits” by Chrissie Wellington- a 13x Ironman winner. It was fantastic. This morning on my bike trainer ride I started Bill Rodgers “Marathon Man” book. I’m also listening to The Book Thief via audio recording right now. Are you reading anything good at the moment? Cherish the time you have with your grandpa to celebrate his birthday today!! 🙂
