The Little Things
March 31, 2015

One of the things that makes Barre Class what it is is the music. The music is perfectly timed with the exercises, and beats are specifically chosen to match the movements at that time. Making a playlist for barre isn’t as simple as just throwing up 15 songs that sound great. It’s about choosing songs I enjoy, along with songs that meet the criteria above.

So yes, creating playlists for barre definitely takes a bit of time, but I usually enjoy it. I also try to do at least an abbreviated class with each playlist before I use it in class, just to make sure that everything works right.

That being said, here is one of my latest barre playlists:

Barre Playlist

Here’s how the song breakdowns work:

Warmup

Pilates Section

Planks Section

Cadio Section

Barre Section

Cool Down

This comes out as 13 songs at 53 total minutes, giving the class time to get set up (we usually end up starting 2-3 minutes late because of that), as well as a few minutes at the end to ask questions and roll up their mats.

If you’re interested in other barre/workout playlists, here you go:

Now it’s your tun to share! What are your favorite songs to work out to right now? Do you have a throwback song that you find inspirational?
