The Little Things
January 30, 2015

Happy Friday! This week I was planning to get away from my mindnight cami nail polish color, but I just couldn’t! I just really love the color. I did, however, do a different variation on it, so it feels a little different (check out midnight cami and midnight cami and you pink too much). This week I went with midnight cami with OPIs “The World Is Not Enough”:

Midnight Cami Essie Nail polish By the time I took this picture my nails had been painted for 4 days, so there’s one or two tiny chips. Sorry. Each of my nails has two coats of midnight cami except for my 4th nail. On this nail I did one coat of midnight cami, and then topped it with “the world is not enough” (just one coat). This made the nail silver, with a dark undercoat, and I absolutely loved it! These nails really remind me of a dark winter night 🙂

Now for a few random facts for Friday:

1. I have a bit of an embarrassing confession. I’ve enjoyed the song “Domino” quite a bit over the last few years, and I thought it was Katy Perry singing it. Last week, however, I discovered that it is in fact not Katy Perry who sings it, but it’s Jessie J. Embarrassing for me, am I right? It really does sound like Katy Perry though!

2. A few weeks ago I was in the tea aisle at the grocery store, and noticed a box of tazo chai tea in concentrated liquid form. It was on sale, so I snatched it up and am LOVING IT. I got a milk frother for Christmas in 2013, so I feel like I can get at least somewhat close to the real deal (for far fewer calories, sugar, and most importantly, MONEY). I love good finds like this!

3. I’ve had about 9 hours of assessments to score this week, but I’m done! I get to do this one week a year for some groups that I lead, and while it certainly takes a lot of time bent over assessments while scoring, I really enjoy it! I spent most evenings after work this week doing them, and it feels good to be done!

4. Well- I did it! I finished Friday Night Lights last night (the TV show, not the movie). I watched the first two episodes the day before my last half marathon in November, watched a few more episodes in December, but watched the majority of the show over the last three weeks. Gosh. I loved it.

5. I saw “Into The Woods” this past weekend, and I have really mixed feelings about it. I liked the movie up until the last 20-30 mins. It was a weird paced movie, so I thought it was over, and then had to sit through another part of the story that just felt really unnecessary. If I had left the movie before it ended, I would’ve solidly said that I enjoyed it, but as it was, I left feeling pretty “meh”

Now it’s your turn to share! What was one of the highlights of the week? Have you ever watched Friday Night Lights?

I have never watched Friday Night Lights but so many people say it’s a great show so it’s something I want to watch soon! I love my milk frother but it’s attached to a cappuccino machine that takes up too much counter space so I never use it. Maybe this weekend!

FNL is definitely worth the time (and the seasons are also shorter as well- around 13 eps a season I think… at least in the later seasons). I have a milk frother that is basically the size of a mug, so it’s really convenient to keep it out all winter!

I’ve actually never watched Friday Night Lights, but it’s been on my Netflix queue for a while. I went to a high school that was very much driven by Friday night football and I love Connie Britton so I think I may try it out. I’ve heard great things from you and others! Maybe I’ll give it a whirl in the summer – there’s SO much TV on right now, between all of the Shonda Rimes shows back on, plus Mad Men, The Americans, House of Cards, and Game of Thrones returning in late winter/early spring. (This is clearly a sign that I watch WAY too much TV. Bah!)

As for Into the Woods, I saw that over Christmas and I was…meh. I expected to like it more since I really like Broadway musicals, but I felt kind of confused by “Act II” of Into the Woods. I did love the waterfall scene of “Agony” 😉 but Johnny Depp was super creepy and I didn’t like that in the second act it basically normalized infidelity. (But I guess that could be said about every TV show/movie on the planet these days.)

Let me know when you start watching FNL- I hope you really like it!! There are lots of fantastic shows on, and I’m especially excited for House of Cards to come out in a month! I enjoyed the “agony” scene as well.

  3. I keep hearing Friday Night Lights is great, but I just started White Collar on NetFlix and got sucked into that.

I’ve heard great things about White Collar but haven’t seen it either! 🙂 I’m watching Parks and Rec right now!

  4. I hear a lot of great things about Friday Night Lights, and it’s on my list of shows to watch. My husband and I just started Breaking Bad, so maybe when we finish up with that I’ll start FNL. I don’t enjoy doing more than one new show series at a time, especially when there are a lot of episodes/seasons (it usually means too much binge watching and not enough important chores like cleaning haha).

I hope you enjoy Breaking Bad! The first season can be a little difficult to get through, but it gets great after that!
